Our Story

The story of Audio Resurgence begins long before its official formation. It traces back to Alchemist Products, a pioneering British audio company founded in 1989. Alchemist quickly earned global recognition for its daring engineering and visually arresting designs — from the muscular lines of the Forseti and The Alchemist ranges to the commanding presence of the original Kraken amplifiers.

At the heart of those iconic creations were Andy Light, Glen Gayle, and Tim de Paravicini — three visionaries whose combined talents defined Alchemist’s distinctive identity. As visual designer, Andy gave Alchemist its unmistakable sculptural form, while Glen, as circuit designer, engineered the sonic character that made its amplifiers so admired. Complementing their work was Tim de Paravicini, the renowned Hi-Fi and studio equipment designer celebrated for his ground-breaking audio innovations. His contributions and modifications elevated Alchemist’s later statement and Signature Series products to legendary status — designs that continue to inspire and will resurface through Audio Resurgence’s forthcoming high-end releases. Together, they embodied the perfect union of art, engineering, and pure sound.

Now, over three decades later, the spirit of Alchemist returns — reborn through Audio Resurgence. Carrying forward the same values of innovation, craftsmanship, and British design excellence, Audio Resurgence stands as a modern continuation of that legacy — refined, reimagined, and ready for a new generation of listeners.

Though the legendary Tim de Paravicini has since passed, his influence remains deeply woven into our philosophy. His statement pieces and design ethos live on through our upcoming creations, ensuring that the artistry and engineering brilliance that once defined Alchemist continue to evolve and inspire. Our first release, The Kraken, marks the resurgence of a legend. Reimagined, re-engineered, and meticulously fine-tuned, this integrated amplifier embodies true Class A performance, pairing timeless design with uncompromising sonic purity.

While Audio Resurgence stands as a new chapter — a fresh company with a renewed vision — its roots are deeply anchored in a heritage of creativity, craftsmanship, and passion for high-fidelity sound. The essence remains the same: bold ideas, striking design, and pure musical expression.

Tribute

Tim de Paravicini

25th October 1945 - 17th December 2020

I first met Tim at Musical Fidelity in 1986, his huge personality took me by surprise, once met never forgotten!

Tim's expertise boosted our acclaimed Alchemist Products, in 1996 producing the outstanding "Signature Series" and "The Alchemist" range. From 2000, I had been collaborating with Tim and his EAR Yoshino company, jointly working on the M100, 312 and 912 models at first then onto a turntable. I had the mechanics of the turntable engineered but Tim designed the drive circuits for it...the Disc Master was born!

Many nights over many years the phone would ring just before midnight... and before it had been answered my wife would say "Tim's calling, I'm off to bed you will be on the phone for hours!" I used to answer and say "long day at work Tim..." but of course then we would end up chatting into the early hours discussing audio, engines and planes! Ideas sparked and new concepts were started. Some will never see

the light of day, Tim's Cutting Head project so carefully thought out had taken years to design but sadly will never be!

As with any of Tim's products they are an experience to behold, they have the sonic qualities that only Tim can achieve, this is what made them and Tim so special. The audio industry has lost a legend and it will not be the same without him in it. 'As a tribute to you Tim, we are bringing back the Signature Series and Designer Series products with your name clearly printed on each one!'

These products will do Tim justice, with all the original circuits and the same design ethics that made them truly outstanding some 25 years ago will be repeated. Updated casework and thermal management will be the only differences, these truly remarkable amplifiers could only be possible thanks to the incredible training and experience I have received through working with Tim for so many years.

'Rest in peace Tim'
